Our First Wish Granted – Hannah

On behalf of Emmy’s Wish Inc, our entire family, friends and everyone else who’s been involved with Emmy’s Wish, we are so happy to announce that we are ready to grant our first wish – Meet Hannah!  Hannah is an 18 month old girl that was born with rhabdomyosarcoma. Since birth she has been receiving chemo treatments and just finished her last round of I.V. chemo. Hannah and her family has made a wish to celebrate her 2nd birthday at Disney World and that’s exactly what will be happening! Everyone at Emmy’s Wish is super excited for this family. Thank you again to everyone that has made all this possible!

Hannah's Story

So my little was born with rhabdomyosarcoma on November 19, 2017 after we found her tumor on her 37 week 5 day ultrasound. She was diagnosed officially at 10 days old, but she was born with the tumor. She is now 16 months old and currently in maintenance chemo until May 20th ish. She is being treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital by Dr. Katie Janeway and Dr. John Prensner and numerous other doctors! she had her tumor removed a year ago on the 26th. They were unable to get clean margins because of how close the tumor was to her spine and her hip. She had 42 weeks of chemo and the surgery as her front line treatment which ended October 2018. After her end of treatment scans they decided that for her cancer children that have 6 more months of chemo but a maintenance they relapse less often. She had a central line placed at 10 days old which broke three times throughout treatment so she had a surgery to replace it in about May 2018 and then it was repaired in about August 2018 and at the end of treatment the line was broken and removed in October. Then on her first birthday she had a port placed because she needed a line for weekly 3 weeks on and 1 week off iv chemo. She has daily oral chemo when on maintenance. She had a stroke on December 22nd because she was also born with an chd which caused a blood clot to go to her brain. She has luckily fully recovered from that and also had a surgery to close holes which were in her heart which caused a stroke. She will be 1.5 years old and a day when she is out of treatment. She is our only it is me my hubby and Hannah. I just graduated from LPN school while pregnant with Hannah and passed my board and started working August 2017 but had to stop working sooner than we thought and I haven’t been working since the beginning of November 2017. Leaving us with my husbands small income for the three of us but have been blessed with help from the hospital and such that she’s been treated.
